Noise and Vibration Associates (NVA - established 1989 and operating from Newcastle Upon Tyne, North East England) offers measurement/consultancy and education/training services and the provision of specialised noise & vibration related software.

NVA's general workload includes industrial noise assessment, planning, traffic noise assessment, legal/expert testimony, and the provision of lecturing and training courses.

NVA specialist areas have been theoretical aspects of resilient mounting systems, ship noise (onboard and underwater) and the development of technical software and "user interfaces" independently and on behalf of clients. This has included assistance in the modeling of Drillstring Vibration for British Gas and Ship's Onboard and Underwater Noise for Vosper Thornycroft (UK).

Vibration Isolation Software

NVA software includes a PC based application for calculations relating to resilient isolation of rigid bodies. This modest development is referred to as the "Vibration Isolation Project" and, consequently - VIP Software

Modelling allows the rapid definition and analysis (natural frequencies, response to steady and transient forces, transmissibility, etc) of systems of a limitless number of rigid bodies (typically machinery, rafts, etc) connected together and to a foundation by a limitless number of "springs" (typically "resilient mounts", "bellows", etc). Users may compile and efficiently utilise databases of inertial "bodies" (e.g. generator sets) and "components" (e.g. engines, alternators, gearboxes), as well as databases of "resilient mounts".

This software is presently available (VIP Download) in demonstration form at no cost and will subsequently be available for purchase. If the software is deemed to provide a useful tool, NVA is hoping to attract sponsors to define development areas and requirements (e.g. animations, non-linear analyses for shock response, inclusion of "buffers"), in which case the software will ultimately be co-owned by sponsors.

Minor Software.

There are also free applications for minor noise and vibration related calculations - [NVA General Software].
